Yuri Gagarin

According to Russian cosmonaut Viktor Savinykh, the city of Mumbai, India should have a monument erected in the name of the late Yuri Gagarin in order to “further boost the Indo-Soviet relationship.”
“In Russia, we have many places named after Indian personalities, including Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi, but in India there is no monument or even a road named after a Russian personality, and we would like it to happen,” the 71 year old veteran, Savinykh went on to say.
According to Savinykh, planet-wide collaboration is needed in order to rectify some of the common problems that we face such as ozone layer depletion and climate change.
“No single country can do this alone,” he said.
Yuri Gagarin, a Russian cosmonaut who died in a plane crash in 1968, is famous for being thefirst person ever to journey into outer space.
